The 21st China Shanghai International Arts Festival will be held from Oct 18 to Nov 17 and will include 100 cultural activities across the city, organizers said.
The annual festival, established in 1999, is the only state-level arts festival in China and has grown into a significant platform for cultural exchange.
This year, the month-long festival will include stage performances, exhibitions, a performing arts fair, forums, themed festivals, the "Art Space" Series, Arts Plus Program, and the young talents program, known as "R.A.W.!" (Rising Artists' Works).
With an array of classics and original creative works from home and abroad, the festival will be a paradise for fans of art, drama, music and dance.
The long queues for tickets are a testament to the public's anticipation for the event. The organizers are also offering discounts for residents.
In order to attract more people, organizers will cooperate with local universities, cultural venues and communities to facilitate interaction and communication between artists worldwide and local audiences.
