Patrol robot starts on the beat in Shanghai
Shanghai's first police patrol robot recently debuted at Nanjing Road pedestrian street -- an initiative which is expected to provide important assistance to the police.
The robot features face recognition technology, broadcast functions and can transfer on-site images in real time.
The robot can patrol 24 hours a day, which will enhance security and reduce labor efforts, according to a policeman at the East Nanjing Road police station.
Once 5G technology is applied to the hardware, people will be able talk to policemen directly through the robot.
