The Shanghai Museum of Textiles and Costumes, on the picturesque Yan'an Campus of Donghua University, hopes to shine even brighter with the recent completion of several renovations.
Offering an exhibition area of more than 4,600 square meters, the museum provides an overview from ancient to modern, from folk art to modern popular trends. Accompanied by a brand new lighting system which takes advantage of colorful energy-saving lights and LED bulbs, the museum is bound to present visitors with a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.
The museum's Ancient Pavilion displays a retrospective collection of textiles and costumes, tracing back from the pre-Qin period (2100-221 BC) to the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911).
The Science Pavilion exhibits detailed information about the garment industry, making use of high-tech devices and interactive facilities. A specially-designed audio space provides a full picture of the development and changes in Shanghai's textile industry through the generations.
