China has no place better than Shanghai to show you just about every architectural style and movement over the space of a one-hour walk. Just go along the Bund beside the Huangpu River and the history of architecture unrolls in front of your very eyes.
Bund Sightseeing Tunnel
This 647-meter-long tunnel starts at the Bund, at the end of Nanjing Road, and runs to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Pudong, as China’s first walkway of its kind. It has an international SK system and takes 2.5 minutes to 5 minutes to cross. The interior wall of the tunnel has changing colors and the unmanned transparent carriages give pedestrians an open view of Shanghai’s scenery.

Shanghai Urban Planning Exihibition Center
The Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center is on People's Square, adjacent to the municipal government building, and contains models of planned or recent developments and models of Shanghai's history. The centerpiece is a large scale model of the entire city, with all existing buildings, and can be viewed at ground level or from a gallery above that runs all the way around it. The model is meant to represent the entire city, including planned developments, punctuated, unfortunately, by a few stout pillars, that are part of the building itself.

Jinmao Tower is a symbol of 21st century Shanghai, at 88 stories, a super high-rise that is 420.5 meters tall, making it the second tallest building in China. It was designed by the US’s S.O.M and completed on Aug 28, 1998. The main building takes up floors 1-52 and is used for offices. The floors 53 - 87 are occupied by the 5-star Grand Hyatt Hotel, and the 88th is for sightseeing. The building skirt is mainly used for finance, trade, services and entertainment.

Shanghai International Convention Center
Shanghai decided to build a world-class International Convention Center to host the 99 Fortune Global Forum, on the west side of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, with modern conference halls, press centers, hotels, dining rooms and entertainment facilities, all of them built in accordance with international standards. On the two sides of the conference hall there are huge spheres with the map of the world on them. The center has already hosted many well-known international conferences.
