Rainbow Bridge International School (RBIS) is an inclusive learning community located within the Shanghai Zoo, one of the largest green spaces in Shanghai. RBIS first opened its doors in 1997 with just two classes serving eighteen early childhood students. During the next fourteen years the student population increased and the physical facilities expanded. Currently, RBIS has fifteen early childhood classes, five kindergarten classes, and ten elementary classes. Our diverse student body of over 375 students comes from thirty-one countries.
At Rainbow Bridge International School, we offer an intimate, diverse community. Our nurturing environment is designed to enable each child to reach his or her full potential. RBIS promotes a hands-on inquiry based curriculum supported through the IB Primary Years Programme, ensuring our highly mobile student body can assimilate into other learning communities across the city and across the globe. Teachers create specialized learning environments where students can develop the independent thinking and questioning skills needed for future success in our changing world.
At RBIS, our mission is to inspire life-long learners to be responsible global citizens who have respect for themselves, the Earth, and diverse cultures:
We establish a culture of learning that aims to enable learners to reach their full potential in all areas of development.
Our active involvement in local and international communities leads to a better understanding of ourselves and the world.
We lay the foundation for excellence by fostering attitudes and skills that will prepare learners to address the challenges of a changing world.
One of our greatest strengths is the sense of community shared by the faculty, students, and RBIS families and friends. Family-centered events such as our annual family picnic, Earth Day, movie night, and Festival of the Arts strengthen the special relationships we share with one another.
Engaging curriculum, talented educators, and active family involvement make RBIS an example of education at its best. We invite you to visit our campus and see for yourself why RBIS is making a difference in the lives of children.
