The syllabus for the Medical Chinese Test (MCT), a standardized test of medical Chinese proficiency, was recently officially released.
MCT is mainly aimed at international medical students in China, the number of which has been growing rapidly in recent years. When the test was first introduced in Dec 15, 2019, nearly 1,000 international medical students from Chinese universities took it.
The test evaluates Chinese communication abilities with patients, medical workers, and other people in the medical field. The syllabus will help inform people of the test's content and provide scientific guidance for teaching and test preparation.
Leading medical universities in China such as Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Tianjin Medical University, and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine participated in the design of the test and syllabus.
