Shanghai University and the Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) discussed how to cultivate talent through school-enterprise cooperation at a meeting on July 17.
The two sides are seeking to train more high-end civil aircraft designers to satisfy national demand.
To this end, representatives from two sides exchanged views on the establishment of a joint training system, curriculum, dual-mentor system and visiting mechanism.
Wang Xiaofan, vice director of Shanghai University, said the cooperation plan will help improve the innovative capabilities of students.
Liu Dan, Party secretary of the Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute, hoped to attract more high-caliber personnel majoring in avionics, flight control and hydraulic systems from Shanghai University.
"We look forward to increasing the number of talents and technology using Shanghai University's academic resources and technical strength," said Liu.
Shanghai-based COMAC is the developer of the C919, China's first large passenger plane. It has its own design center, manufacturing center and service center and is striving to reduce China's dependency on Boeing and Airbus.
