As Teachers' Day arrived, special greetings to express respect and gratitude to teachers now could be seen on an LED screen covering the Citigroup Tower on the Bund, the biggest outdoor screen in Shanghai.
In celebration of the 35th Teachers' Day, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission selected nearly 30 greetings from hundreds of online messages to light up the screen.
A lot of students and teachers were attracted to witness the moment with the landmark display greetings such as "Hello teacher", "Thanks for your hard work" and "Happy Teachers' Day" in Chinese.
"China has always had the tradition of showing great respect to teachers," said Zhang Qianyi, a college student at Tongji University.
"I'd like to thank my math teacher in high school for the great effort made in training me," Zhang added.
The Teachers' Day greetings will scroll along the screen until Sep 16.
