Global Cities Forum held at SJTU

The launch ceremony of the 2019 Global Cities Forum and the World Cities Day Shanghai Observance was held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) on Oct 27.
The forum revolved around urban transformation and innovative development, and topics such as urban governance, ecological civilization, transportation, and underground space were discussed.
The forum was attended by around 400 people from nearly 20 countries and regions including Singapore, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Russia, and from a number of international organizations and associations including the United Nations, the World Bank, and the Associated Research Centers for the Urban Underground Space. Domestic political, academic, and industrial leaders also attended the forum.
Victor Kisob, assistant secretary general of the United Nations and deputy executive director of the UN Commission on Human Settlements, greeted attendees and affirmed the important role of the forum in promoting global cooperation and discussing urban governance.
SJTU Party Committee Secretary Jiang Sixian proposed that for urban transformation, it is important to implement modernization and innovative development.
The award ceremony for the fifth College Student Urban Governance Case Challenge was held at the forum's closing ceremony.
