Shanghai Normal University held its third International Student Cultural Festival on Nov 8, showcasing its diverse cultures to students and teachers.
International students from more than 20 countries, including France, Panama, Russia, and Mongolia, along with a number of teachers and students from Shanghai Normal University, set up booths celebrating their unique cultures.
The booths were filled with unique drinks and snacks such as Moroccan mint tea, Mongolian yogurt, Korean rice cakes, Thai fried rice noodles, and Japanese rice rolls, as well as traditional items such as Russian matryoshka dolls, Vietnamese bamboo hats, African drums, and a special type of chess from Kyrgyzstan.
A variety of shows, including a Tajikistan folk dance, a solo by an Armenian student, a Bozwana traditional song and dance performance, a Burkina Faso song and music performance, and a Chinese traditional dance, were also held that day.
Wu Cheng, director of the university's International Affairs Office, encouraged international students to share their distinct cultures at the opening ceremony.
Wu said that he hoped the festival would help tighten bonds between international and Chinese students and promote cross-cultural exchange.
