The ninth National Culture Festival, entitled "Blooming Flowers", was held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) on Oct 27. It put on a Chinese cultural extravaganza for teachers and students.
More than 20 ethnic minorities performed during the festival, which attracted many teachers and students interested in learning about different cultures.
The performance began with a rendition of "Motherland and Me" by teachers in the SJTU Minorities Union.
The festival also featured a variety of exhibition booths where special minority foods and crafts were on display. The booths were meant to teach visitors about the folk customs of various ethnic groups.
The first such festival was held in 2010, and its scale and influence has continued to grow. It now serves as a major platform for SJTU teachers and students of all ethnic groups to share their cultures.
The festival was organized by the SJTU Minorities Union and Student Union and sponsored by the SJTU Party Committee's United Front Work Department, the Student Affairs Steering Committee, and the Youth League Committee.
