Messages to graduating students were shown on the LED screen covering the Citigroup Tower on the Bund, the biggest outdoor screen in Shanghai, on June 19.
The messages are a gift from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics given every graduation season, expressing wishes to the future of the students.
Interviews with teacher and student representatives were also held on the Bund and were broadcast live. With the use of hologram technology, they also talked to past versions of themselves.
Ye Weiling, a teacher representative who was voted one of the school's best teachers by students, said it is hard to see her students leave, but she wishes them a bright future. She encouraged the students to use what they have learned to make contributions to social and economic development.
Yang Yixuan, a graduating student representative from the law school of the university, thanked the school for giving her a colorful campus life in the past four years. She looked back on moments when she entered the university, participated in the university anniversary celebrations, and worked in campus organizations.
