Shanghai Institute of Technology
Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT) is a full-time public university specializing in applied technology with a history of over 60 years.
As one of the top 100 demonstration universities in applied sciences recognized by the Ministry of Education, the Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT) is renowned for its perfume and aroma technology program, as well as its chemistry program in China.
It has ranked first for three consecutive years among universities of applied technology in Shanghai since 2018, and is striving to become a high-level innovative university with international influence.
SIT has two campuses, the Xuhui campus and the Fengxian campus, which cover an area of 95.2 hectares.
The university has 19 faculties offering 54 undergraduate programs. It also provides nine academic master's programs and 11 professional master's programs.
The number of full-time students at the school is 18,744. There are 1,640 faculty members, including 1,184 full-time teachers, 575 of whom have senior professional and technical positions, as well as 671 teachers that have doctoral degrees.
The university focuses on instilling its students with practical skills, an innovative mindset and an international vision. To this end, it has increased the percentage of industry experts and elites with an overseas educational background.
Adhering to the philosophy of "prosperity through industry, science and technology", the school has been focusing on perfume, cosmetics and green chemicals, new materials, and intelligent manufacturing, and is striving to build an engineering technology research center.
It has won important municipal and national awards for teaching achievements. Its many research projects have also been listed as national-level projects that can receive research funds.
It has set up the first international cosmetic college in China, and has jointly established the Oriental Beauty Valley Research Institute with the government of Shanghai’s Fengxian district, the China-Europe Intellectual Property Institute with the Shanghai Intellectual Property Office and the government of Shanghai’s Xuhui district, as well as the Shanghai Advanced Applied Technology Research Center with the Shanghai Academy of Sciences.
In addition to Shanghai, SIT maintains close cooperative relations with more than 30 cities in China, and has established multiple production, learning and research stations and technology transfer centers.
SIT has established extensive cooperation and exchange relationships with 105 universities and institutes in over 20 countries and regions. Academic exchange and staff training programs have been carried out with 116 foreign universities and research institutions all over the world. In the past three years, more than 200 teachers have been sent to overseas universities and research institutions for scientific research cooperation and academic exchanges, and 143 overseas teachers have come to the university to participate in teaching and research work.
It has set up four Chinese-foreign joint education programs in marketing, mechanical design, manufacturing, and automation, electrical engineering and automation, as well as applied chemistry.
The university actively promotes international academic exchange and has held activities like the "Chinese and Foreign Principals' Innovation and Development Forum", the "China International High-Level Forum on Science and Technology Innovation of Perfume" and the '3rd Green Fluorochemical Technology Collaborative Innovation Forum".
