Shanghai among top 10 Chinese cities with most higher education institutions

Shanghai has 64 institutions of higher education, ranking sixth among the top 10 Chinese cities with the most higher education institutions, according to the latest data of the Ministry of Education.
The data showed that by the end of May 31, China had over 3,013 institutions of higher education in 2022. In addition to 254 adult colleges, the country is home to 2,759 general institutes of higher education, including 1,270 universities and 1,489 higher vocational colleges and academies.
